The La Crosse County Historical Society has received an award for The Hackner Touch.
The award was given to the organization for its exhibit that showcased the works of Egrid Hackner and his daughter, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Marietta Hackner. Deemed “a legacy of sacred craftsmanship,” the exhibit was featured at the historical society in La Crosse, Wisconsin, last fall.
A story featured by La Crosse Tribune details a celebration held on Oct. 20 at St. Rose Convent’s Mary of the Angels Chapel in La Crosse, Wisconsin, at which Amy Vach, La Crosse County Historical Society curator, was presented with the award by Angela Titus, Wisconsin Historical Society’s chief program officer. “The [E. Hackner Co.] left an extraordinary legacy of craftsmanship,” said Angela.
“This is so special,” shares Amy in the article, “because it was really a community collaboration, from working with the FSPA to UW-La Crosse to Western Tech … it’s wonderful that we get to celebrate it.”
The story also includes a photo of FSPA Archivist Meg Paulino showing a Hackner piece on a tour at St. Rose during the celebration.
