IT Intern

Come join the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration mission and ministry.  We are looking for an intern who is ready to put their classes to work.

This is an opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of experiences — maintaining personal/business computers, printers, security systems and phones (including cell phones). Running audio and visual equipment including live streaming, helping off-site personnel via remote support software, and assisting with building-wide systems updates as we renovate St. Rose Convent. In addition, you will be working with others to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions. 

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A commitment to customer service and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people
  • Excellent troubleshooting and computer skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Patience working with a broad range of technical know-how

Preferred education:  Actively working towards an Associate or Bachelor's degree in an IT related field.

This paid internship requires 12-15 hours per week. Schedule is flexible and can be adjusted during final exam weeks and other times directly related to school.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.  Length of the internship is open.

Ecospirituality Intern  

Are you interested in learning more about organic gardening techniques and sustainable practices? 

We need an intern for our organic garden located at the Villa St. Joseph located on St. Joseph Ridge, eleven miles east of La Crosse on Highway 33. The gardens not only produce abundant, high-quality fruits, vegetables and herbs but they also serve as educational models in the community.

You must be able to work in all weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks. You must also be able to work quickly, follow instructions, work with others, and pay attention to details.

You would:

  • Harvest of a large variety of mixed vegetables and fruits
  • Assist with planting, weeding, field clean up, mulching, row covers, and other tasks around the garden, greenhouse and orchard as needed
  • Assist with washing, culling and packing produce as needed

Preferred education: Completing coursework in related field that may include dietetics, community health, environmental science or other related field.

This part-time position requires 10-15 hours per week (with the possibility of more depending on availability). Schedule is flexible and can be adjusted during the semester as it relates to school. Occasional evening and a rotation of every other weekend will be required. The position is seasonal and will end by December.

Part time Food Service Aide

This is a great position for anyone looking for 6-10 hours per week. Hours during the week are 4:00 to 6:00 pm; Sundays and holidays are 3:30 to 5:30 pm. Schedules are flexible with opportunities to pick up additional/longer shifts. 

Duties include:

  • Preparing the cafeteria line for meal service
  • Carrying trays for sisters
  • Cleaning up after meal service, including wiping down counters, washing dishes, etc.

Villa St. Joseph 

Villa St. Joseph is a skilled-care retirement home owned by Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. The Villa is located on St. Joseph Ridge, 11 miles east of La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Highway 33. the land that surrounds the Villa was initially purchased as a farm to produce food for St. Rose Convent and the then St. Francis Hospital. The present day structure is comprised of three wings and is home to approximately 70 sisters.

Registered Nurse:  

Full-time:  1st and 3rd shifts
Part-time: 2nd shift

PHILOSOPHY:
In executing all duties and responsibilities of the job description, the employee shall be expected to advocate and foster the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and social well-being of all individuals in accordance with the healing ministry of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration and Villa St. Joseph Retirement Home.

JOB SUMMARY:
The nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating is the basis for all care delivered by the registered nurse. The registered nurse is accountable for the delivery of direct care and for supervising the nursing care provided by professional and ancillary nursing personnel.  The registered nurse assesses and plans in collaboration with the patient/support person and the interdisciplinary health care team to meet the educational and discharge needs. The registered nurse provides care for the elderly residents of the Villa St. Joseph.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

  • Must have current registration to practice professional nursing in Wisconsin.
  • Must have at least 1 year of related work experience and possess basic leadership skills. May negotiate if previously employed as a licensed practical nurse in a geriatric setting.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant:   

Day shift is 6:30am-2:30pm
PM shift is 2:30-10:30pm
Night shift is 10:30pm-6:30am

A member of the health care team who, under the direct supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse assists residents with daily cares in order to maintain the highest degree of dignity, safety and independence.

  • Nursing experience desired.  On the job training can be provided.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Dietary Aide/cook: Full-time 1st shift

JOB SUMMARY:

A member of the health care team who plans and organizes time, material and staff to enable the preparation and serving of nutritious, wholesome food which adheres to diet therapy requirements, as well as being appealing to the eye and palate.

  • One to two years of commercial cooking experience preferred. On the job training may be substituted.
