Global Sisters Report has shared news of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration's "$2 million commitment to the Franciscan Action Network that will support 'a collective Franciscan voice' on public policy issues such as environmental justice, immigration and peacebuilding. ... A transformative gift that 'significantly expands FAN's capacity to build an intergenerational movement to respond to the moral imperatives of our time and strengthen the Franciscans' long-standing witness to gospel nonviolence.'"
"We are giving this gift because the movement FAN is building reflects our commitment to justice, peace and integral ecology," shares Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration President Sue Ernster. "We believe the movement will help to accomplish our community's goals."
FAN Executive Director Michele Dunne, OFS, says in the article, "We are humbled and energized by the trust that the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration have placed in our mission."
Founded in 2007, FAN — a faith-based nonprofit organization of which FSPA is a founding, institutional member of — is missioned to "transform United States policy related to peacemaking, care for creation, poverty and human rights," upholding "the interconnectedness of all creation and the common origin of humanity as rooted in God's loving design for the earth and all people."
