On Tuesday, June 24, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration joined more than 60 congregations of Catholic Sisters and faith-based organizations for Sisters Speak Out – prayer for immigrants and a just economy. The Sisters Speak Out campaign featured a main public witness event in Washington D.C., with more than 25 echo events across the United States.
One echo event took place Eloy, Arizona, where FSPA and the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary of the Woods joined the Kino Border Initiative in solidarity with immigrant families. Despite temperatures in the mid-90s and the harsh desert sun, around 70 people gathered outside of the Eloy Detention Center for prayer, testimony and public witness.
