In loving memory: Sister Janet Fischer

Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Janet Fischer died Nov. 20, 2025, at the age of 88 and in her sixty-sixth year of religious profession, at St. Rose Convent in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The call to religious life came to Sister Janet after graduating from high school and hopping on a train for Los Angeles, where she lived and worked for 15 months. She ministered as a homemaker and baker in Wisconsin and Iowa before arriving at St. Rose to bake and chauffeur. In 1980 Sister Janet moved to minister at St. Christopher Parish in Claxton, Georgia, where she served in parish ministry and as a pastoral associate, retired in 2012 and volunteered for another 13 years. Sister Janet lived a rich and full life, loved fiercely by her family and community. She cherished her nearly 40 years in Georgia, yet remained an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
