In Aug. 2025, the University of Notre Dame renamed its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Center to the Sister Thea Bowman Center. While the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration were not part of the decision, Sister Sue Ernster, FSPA President, joined Notre Dame in celebrating the new name.
Reflecting on the renaming, Sister Sue shared that Sister Thea’s “prophetic voice for racial justice and Gospel joy continues to inspire the Church to be more inclusive, courageous, and compassionate.”
