Deepening relationships with Presentation Lantern Center

Deepening relationships with Presentation Lantern Center

The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Ministry Grant Committee is providing a series of learning opportunities — presentations given by sister and affiliate ministry grant sponsors to introduce the investments they support and those who are putting them to work within their organizations.

These presentations are not just information sharing; they are occasions created for making connections and deepening relationships in the global communities served.

We invite you to watch the latest session which features a discussion with Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Suzanne Rubenbauer and Megan Ruiz, executive director of Presentation Lantern Center, an organization welcoming migrants to the community of Dubuque, Iowa, and surrounding areas, with advocacy and referrals to aid them along their language-learning journeys. FSPA supports the center’s work with the migrant community through ministry grants, sponsored by Sister Suzanne, that assist with essential technology and emergency fund resources.

“In 22 years,” says Megan, Presentation Language Center has “helped over 1,700 immigrants and thousands” of their children in the tri-state area. She speaks to the “honor” the organization has to work with a diverse group of the more than 100 volunteers who have provided approximately 4,000 hours each year. “Without them, we couldn’t provide the one-on-one ESL support that is so important. It’s a blessing to be a part of this,” she shares.
