Indigenous Film Series: SUGARCANE
11/13/25
5:00 pm
Rivoli Theatre, La Crosse, Wisconsin
Join us for the next film in our ongoing Indigenous Film Series, Sugarcane (2024, Rated R). A stunning tribute to the resilience of Native people and their way of life, SUGARCANE, the debut feature documentary from Julian Brave NoiseCat and Emily Kassie, is an epic cinematic portrait of a community during a moment of international reckoning. An investigation into abuse and missing children at an Indian residential school in Canada ignites a reckoning on the nearby Sugarcane Reserve. Join us for a screening of Sugarcane and a discussion following the film to learn about today’s Indigenous peoples through movies, media, and dialogue.
This event is in partnership between the Ho-Chunk Nation Youth & Learning Center at the La Crosse Ni Tani Hocira (Three Rivers House), UW Extension La Crosse County, The Rivoli Theatre, Western Technical College, Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, and the La Crosse Public Library.
