Jail ministry, especially scripture studies, has been part of Sister Nina’s life for the past 20 years; first in the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison, Iowa, and now in La Crosse, Wisconsin. In her spare time, she enjoys making stuffed animals and has handcrafted over 370 teddy bears,190 owls and 28 dogs. They can be found for sale in the FSPA gift shop at St. Rose Convent in La Crosse.
Since obtaining her first camera at the age of eight, Sister Nina has continually sought to bring the beautiful sights, sounds, smells and feelings of the outdoors into her home. Her photos document her adventures and fleeting moments of solitude. Sister Nina’s gallery, below, is full of images that celebrate an eye for detail and love of the world.
