La Crosse Interfaith Shoulder to Shoulder Network has given $1,500 to the La Crosse-area food pantry WAFER, honoring the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha by helping to feed families struggling amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to an article published in La Crosse Tribune, LISSN, an organization missioned to eradicate Islamophobia, made the donation in lieu of hosting a local celebration to honor the holy holiday (due to the pandemic).

"We don't focus a lot on the giving of our Muslim brothers and sisters" says Sister Laura Nettles, a member of LISSN. "Our Muslim community is incredibly generous and one of the hallmarks of Islam is to give. (Sharing about the donation) helps combat the anti-Muslim rhetoric that is out there."
