AdorationTalk: Psalm 42 [watch]

03/20/2019 12:22 pm

Sister Sarah releases "Psalm 42: a prayer of disorientation"

“Psalm 42 is a prime example of a lament, of a prayer of disorientation,” begins Sarah Hennessey, a Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, in her latest AdorationTalk. She invites us in to pray the psalm and then reflect.

Sister Sarah offers insight into the psalm, “In times of great darkness the psalmist struggles, but the honest words point a way forward. There is no denial here. The reality is harsh. And the author holds nothing back, allowing anger and frustration toward God to boil over. But instead of denying faith, a true faith in the face of reality is revealed.” Sister Sarah walks us through a moment of “disorientation leading to reorientation.”

And, watch for a follow up Adoration Talk featuring Psalm 103, set to release March 27 (watch it on our AdorationTalk page).

AdorationTalk is hosted by Sister Sarah Hennessey, FSPA adoration coordinator. Each episode provides you a closer look at the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration's most sacred tradition: perpetual adoration.
