Vacation with a Purpose: Advanced Watercolor Creating Movement in Watercolor

05/28/23 - 06/02/23

9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Host: Marywood Franciscan Spirituality Center

Location: in-person

Facilitator: Sister Karen Kappell, FSPA

This week’s program will center on creating paintings that have visual movement and are expressive in style. We will use Ann Blockley’s recent book Watercolor Workshop: Projects and Interpretations as a reference guide to create paintings that explore and experiment with techniques that will develop your creativity. We will have a different subject each day that by their nature suggest movement. Monday: Abstracts – Subjects without rigidity; Tuesday – Wind movement in the skies and their effect on trees; Wednesday – Landscapes: tangled grasses, bushes, windblown fields; Thursday – Moving streams and rushing waters; Friday – Wildflower meadows. Ann’s book is not necessary for class, but is an excellent reference book, well worth the investment, which can be purchased from Amazon. Bring your watercolor supplies and creative energy.

Fee: $45 each day, $200 for the week. Call Marywood to register and for cost of a cabin reservation. Limit of 8. Pre-register by Sunday, May 21.
