St. Francis School of nursing plaque dedication
On Sept. 15, 2010, the St. Francis School of Nursing alumnae held its annual meeting at which they hung a recognition plaque next to the statue of St. Francis on the first floor of the St. Francis building.
According to Sister Marie Kyle, “The statue stood in the St. Francis School of Nursing since the early 1950s. When the school closed it was brought to St. Francis Hospital. Donald Fox, FSH pastoral care, researched the statue’s history. His article in a recent pastoral care publication inspired the alumnae to create and hang the plaque which details the statue’s history.
Monsignor expresses gratitude to FSPA through generous gift
by Louise Marie Guralski, FSPA and Jean Michael Treba, FSPA
Villa St. Joseph sisters are grateful that they can participate in the daily liturgy. Six priests come to the Villa to celebrate Mass with the sisters. Among them is Msgr. Robert Hundt. Msgr. Hundt, like the other priests who celebrate Eucharist with us, is happy to come to Villa St. Joseph. He finds our Villa home to be a place of spirituality and peace.
While in Rome earlier this year, Msgr. Hundt noted a shop window displaying lovely liturgical vestments. He was inspired to think of FSPA at Villa St. Joseph and went into the shop to look at the vestments. At the end of September Msgr. Hundt gifted the Villa with the beautiful set of chasubles.
When he blessed the chasubles during the liturgy he spoke of his gratitude and respect for FSPA. He said he has had a long relationship with FSPA that began when he was a student in Middle Ridge, Wis. It continued as he went on to minister with them in La Crosse diocesan schools, especially Wausau’s Neuman High School, and then as he worked within the diocesan offices. That relationship continues as he comes weekly to celebrate the liturgy at the Villa. The FSPA of Villa St. Joseph are grateful for his generosity and friendship with us. We pray that God continues to bless him.
