Thinking Green News Moment talks with Sister Lucy Slinger

Sister Thea book garners excellent reviews

Sister Thea Bowman's book, This Little Light, was recently reviewed by St. Anthony Messenger and by the Palm Beach ArtsPaper blog. The Messenger's review says, "…beautiful book. Mickey McGrath sees that energy of renewal and gospel authenticity in Sister Thea Bowman's life and death, and wants to share it with anyone who will watch and listen." The Palm Beach ArtsPaper blog declares the book worth reading, "This book might seem like an odd choice. It brims with colorful paintings by the author and looks like a picture book for children. But the life of African-American Thea Bowman is an uplifting story that likely will appeal to readers of all ages – one that adults can profitably share with their children."

FSPA inspires KCHS graduate
The Wed., Jan. 14, 2009 edition of the Daily Times Herald, Carroll, Iowa, featured an article entitled Teacher's encouragement inspires KCHS graduate. The article highlights Carroll resident Richard Harlow and his struggles during his teen years. Richard credits Sister Margaret Mary for turning his life around. Sister Malinda Gerke's harp ministry told in touching story
For years, Sister Malinda Gerke, a Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, has played her harp in hospital halls and patient rooms of local health care facilities. She has used her instrument to soothe those seeking healing, comfort and consolation and, in doing so, has witnessed physical and emotional healing connected directly to her music. Sister Malinda's stories are available in her new book, Instrument of Peace.
