Franciscan Spirituality Center, La Crosse, Wis., celebrates 25 years
The Sunday, June 20, 2010 edition of the La Crosse Tribune highlighted the center's history, achievements and celebration plans. About the center's future, Sister Mary Kathryn Fogarty replied: "That's the beauty when you are open to possibilities, we can carry on the history of the Franciscan Sisters. We can respond to what we see as the needs of this time."
FSPA affiliate and employee takes on role as Place of Grace coordinator
FSPA affiliate and St. Rose employee Michael Krueger was recently featured in the La Crosse Tribune. The La Crosse Tribune article featured Michael's new position as coordinator for Place of Grace in La Crosse. "Krueger also has a dishwashing job at St. Rose Convent and is in the process of FSPA covenant affiliation, so he can keep 'a connection to that (Franciscan) community that formed me.'"

This story, published June 16, 2010, tells of one of the exciting events that happened at Camp Winston the first weekend in June. We hope to be able to occupy the office and health center by the end of the month and the other part of the building will be finished by fall. Both sections will be winterized. The respect, excitement and care of the volunteers was heart warming and befitting the positive energy we strive to create all the time. Inner Peace Group: 'Their journey toward inner peace has led to friendship, too'
The “inner peace group” was featured in the June 12, 2010 edition of the La Crosse Tribune. The story, La Crosse group searches for inner peace, featured John and Marilyn Hempstead (FSPA affiliates), Ellen Moore, Bob Schneyer and Ursula Chiu (FSPA affiliate). According to the article, “The five found each other Aug. 29, 2007, during an event sponsored by the spirituality center to affirm people in peace and justice work. Those in attendance had been asked to break into various smaller groups, and the Hempsteads had suggested an inner peace group.”
FSPA sponsored university announces new nursing school facility
Sister Mary Ann Gschwind recently participated in a news conference announcing Viterbo University's plans for a new School of Nursing. Sister Mary Ann, as chairperson for the Viterbo University board of trustees, announced that the trustees have given their unanimous approval to a resolution calling for Viterbo University to proceed with construction of a new state of the art nursing facility at a cost not to exceed $15.8 million.
