Caring Presence

The FSPA charisma manifests itself in the loving, caring presence of the sisters, who always keep before them the needs of contemporary society. We have many ministries that beautifully exemplify this caring presence:

• Walking in a gentle, supportive spirit with native Americans, counseling and supporting victims of domestic violence, and treating perpetrators and those with drug and alcohol abuse problems to learn healthy ways of handling their frustrations (Whitewater Reservation, Whitewater, Ariz.);
• Listening to the longings of immigrants and guiding them to centers where some of their political and material needs can be met (El Paso, Texas, and Douglas, Ariz.);
• Serving as caring companions to Latino Americans (Walla Walla, Wash., and Goodyear, Ariz);
• Helping Africans and Central Americans recover from material and political deprivation (Cameroon and Zimbabwe, Africa, and El Salvador, Central America);
• Providing a caring presence for those bruised by injustice and directing them to resources that will help them achieve their goals;
• Extending kindness and friendship to the isolated and elderly.

Following the examples of Jesus and St. Francis, these are but a few examples of the ministries to which we devote ourselves.
