Education for the 21^st century needs to address the global issues that challenge the future of the planet. As a centennial gift to Viterbo University, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration provided the financial support to initiate a process that would open possibilities for faculty, administrators, and students to integrate global, environmental, and multi-cultural issues into the educational experience.

In addition to the Global Education program, we also work to broaden mental horizons and deepen understanding of global peace and justice issues through the Franciscan Chair in Global Education. The Franciscan Chair works to build long-term relationships that promote the mission of both the congregation and the college by

• Facilitating a multi-cultural/international dimension in Viterbo's curriculum;
• Adding quality instruction and field experience in multi-cultural curriculum;
• Building international and cross-cultural awareness at Viterbo;
• Strengthening ongoing programs in peace and justice education;
• Exemplifying a model of partnership between the FSPA congregation and Viterbo.
