Q: Can only Catholics be affiliates?
A: Affiliation is open to everyone baptized and active in the Christian faith. Like Francis and Clare, we find our common heart in the spirit of Jesus.
Q: Are there any financial or legal obligations as affiliates?
A: There are no financial or legal obligations for either affiliates or the FSPA congregation. Many affiliates, however, choose to offer monetary support for the FSPA mission.
Q: Must participants live in La Crosse?
A: Part of being Franciscan is taking our beliefs into our daily lives. The world is our neighborhood. Stay where you are, and spread Franciscan joy and peace. If you don't live in the La Crosse area, we network in more than 20 states and six additional territories or countries. Because of our strong belief in community, we ask that affiliates network closely with their companion sisters.
Q: What are the responsibilities of an affiliate?
A: You are called to live a Christian lifestyle in the tradition of Francis and Clare. This is how Francis said it: “While you are proclaiming peace on your lips, be careful to have it more fully in your heart.”
