In This Issue - Perspectives Spring 2005
We reverence all of Gods gifts and rejoice in the goodness of all creation. FSPA respond to Gods gifts by reverencing all parts of creation and rejoicing in their inherent goodness. As individual members approach their ministry with this foundational philosophy a diverse yet congruent whole is created. This issue of Perspectives illustrates the richness in that diversity. Sister Theas preaching and musical gifts inspired countless people during her life and still have had an impact fifteen years after her death. Sister Maryam Gosslings artistic gifts inspire faith-filled action without words. Affiliate Diane Lindahl preaches by reaching out to those she encounters each day when she goes to work. The St. Anthony Regional Hospital profile illustrates the effects of the FSPA response. Home to many living and deceased members, the congregation has invested in the wellbeing of the Carroll, Iowa, region by supporting medical care and education for 100 years. Three members were recently honored with prestigious awards. Despite their different pathsnursing, education and artseach was recognized for the significant impact they have made in others lives. At her golden jubilee in June 2004, Sister Joleen Van Dyke said, Im an incurable church nut who will try almost anything to help this church pray. As an organ donor, Sister Joleen shared what God had given her by offering new life to two people when she died. Sister Betty Daugherty describes recent FSPA actions to encourage greater reverence for Gods creation in her summary on ecospirituality. Similarly, by demanding justice for victims of U.S.-taught violence in Central and South America, Sister Maria Friedman seeks recognition for those who have no voice. Commonly we reverence our friendships by exchanging gifts. Such an exchange took place in January with Bishop John Paul of the La Crosse diocese. Also, friends of the congregation are now giving their monetary gifts via the internet. The congregation is truly grateful to be in relationship with so many.
