We proclaim the Gospel message wherever we serve by ministering in such
a way that the human and Christian dimensions of life may be more fully realized.
FSPA Constitutions #38
In this issue of Perspectives we visit four centers sponsored by the FSPA where
personal and spiritual growth are cultivated, where the Divine presence is honored.
When asked about what makes the FSPA sponsorship relationships different, Sister
Marlene Weisenbeck said, It (the difference) is the quality of the relationship,
the way we interact with others and bring Gods spirit to them. Sometimes
we dont have to say the word God or Christit is the demeanor with
which we interact with others and deep respect for the Divine presence in all
things, all people and the universe.
At Prairiewoods, seekers encounter the Divine in the beauty of nature or through
holistic treatments like massage or reflexology. Because of its north woods
location, nature is an important focus at Marywood as well. Staff at Marywood
is also focused on building community. One program participant said, Where
is the line between community and faith?
Sister Delmarie Gibney explains why personal inner-work is so important to the
future of our planet when she talks about WomanWell. Through personal reflection
two participants from the Spiritual Direction Preparation Program at Franciscan
Spirituality Center illustrate how the program has changed their lives, and
ultimately the lives of others.
Members proclaim the Gospel through their ministry, through presence as a pharmacist,
peacemaker or nurse. Even at the age of 100, Gods spirit shines through
these women.
Recently two new members have embraced the FSPA charism. The FSPA spirit is also
carried by 206 affiliates. In August, affiliates celebrated their 25-year relationship
with the congregation.
Deep respect for the Divine presence was at the heart of the yearlong celebration
of Mary of the Angels Chapel. The Special Edition, dedicated to the chapel centennial
celebration, honors all the beauty and relationships that have emanated from
this house of God.
