Artist Creates Print of Sister Thea Bowman
LA CROSSE, Wis., January, 2000 -- Anyone looking at the "cow sculptures" which artists created this past year in Chicago would have come across the name of artist David Csicsko. Csicsko happens to be a close friend of two Viterbo graduates, Gary Henderson, a Chicago photographer, and his wife, Jennifer Taylor Henderson, an actress. Both were students of Sister Thea Bowman and found themselves sharing stories of her with Csicsko. Thea's life touched Csicsko and inspired him to do an art piece depicting her spirit. Prints of his work will be presented formally to Viterbo College and the Franciscan Sisters during Thea Fest 2000. "We're so glad David can come for the event," says Shelly Lamb-Vosen, a member of the Thea Fest planning committee, chair of the Viterbo Alumni Emeritus Board and Viterbo roommate of Jennifer Henderson. "It will be exciting to have him experience the spirituals and the ritual and the excitement which Thea introduced us to when we were her students at Viterbo." Csicsko has created a multitude of illustrations for the city of Chicago and
area museums, musical groups andbusinesses. He also illustrated a commemorative
Christmas book for the White House in Washington, D.C. Click here to return to the Thea News page.
