Community

Community living for FSPA members centers on relationships. As with all Franciscans, we are neither monastic nor apostolic. We are not unified through a place like monastics, nor are we brought together by a dedication to a common work like apostolic communities. Rather, we are united by our relationships, our sisterhood to each other and to creation. We seek a community of unity in diversity—a unity of love and purpose, a diversity of persons and gifts.

Practically, we are bonded in local communities, each consisting of at least five sisters. In these local communities, we strive to be sisters to each other, sharing faith, supporting personal growth, discerning ministry and other calls of the spirit and providing input to the larger congregation. With affiliates, we share our faith and explore ways to manifest our Franciscan and Eucharistic presence to the Church and the world. Together, we embrace our call to be a loving presence to the world.
