FSPA Celebrate 125 Years of Perpetual Adoration

Based on an ad placed in The Register, the Diocesan paper based in Spokane, Washington.

As a Catholic community of sisters, centered in Christ and built upon Franciscan values, our mission is to be a loving presence in the world, offering new life, meaning, and hope to God’s creation. One of the ways we do that is through perpetual adoration – our namesake and our foundation.

For 125 years, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at least two people have prayed before the Blessed Sacrament.

Perpetual adoration is a powerful commitment that results in our offering the longest-running uninterrupted prayer in the United States. It is a work that allows us to walk in faith and gratitude and enables us to bring God’s presence to those in need.

As Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, we have committed more than two million hours to perpetual adoration in our chapel, but we have committed millions more to living it in our ministries.

As we live perpetual adoration, we continue our traditional ministries of healing and teaching, now in many instances expressed differently to meet the needs of our changing world.

Perpetual adoration is much more than a practice; it is a way of life that expresses itself through action as well as prayer.
